Carmina Burana

Carmina Burana

Life, love & rhythm

Saturday 21 March 2020
7.30pm
Wiltshire Music Centre

Carl Orff’s famous cantata is a thrilling setting of secular poems written by the medieval monks of Burana, describing the joys of spring, dancing in the meadows, drinking in the tavern and bawdy love – all subject to the whims of Fortune (‘O Fortuna’), empress of the world. The concert opens by exploring other life passions – flying, dancing, musical rhythm – with music by Whitacre and Gershwin.

The performance brings together the stunning talents of BackBeat Percussion Quartet, prodigious young pianist Nurry Lee and Bath Bach Choir, all under the magic baton of conductor Nigel Perrin.
