Carmina Burana

Carmina Burana

Life, love & rhythm

Saturday 21 March 2020
Wiltshire Music Centre

Carl Orff’s famous cantata is a thrilling setting of secular poems written by the medieval monks of Burana, describing the joys of spring, dancing in the meadows, drinking in the tavern and bawdy love – all subject to the whims of Fortune (‘O Fortuna’), empress of the world. The concert opens by exploring other life passions – flying, music, rhythm – with music by Whitacre and Gershwin and performances by the stunning BackBeat Percussion Quartet and prodigious young pianist Nurry Lee.
